Inventory & Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary

Geocomp, Inc. seeks a motivated Inventory & Logistics Coordinator in Acton, MA. The role involves managing inventory, purchasing, logistics, shipping/receiving, and sales support, with potential expansion into production support for field instrumentation equipment.

• Maintain the ERP system with accurate part numbers, descriptions, and pricing.
• Track items sent for testing, disposal, or R&D use.
• Monitor monthly work‑in‑progress (WIP) items.
• Maintain specified minimum inventory levels and prevent overstocking.
• Update and improve bills of materials (BOMs) and cost of goods (COGs).
• Optimize stock levels to reduce carrying costs in coordination with engineering.
• Place timely purchase orders to support production schedules.
• Track and manage items with long lead times.
• Order and monitor non‑inventory/miscellaneous items.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure accuracy of orders and delivery schedules.
• Physically receive materials and record them in the ERP system.
• Dispatch inventory through the ERP system, generating picklists, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
• Coordinate all necessary paperwork for order processing.
• Prepare and manage documentation for all outgoing shipments.
• Handle domestic and international shipping (small package and freight).
• Provide shipping details to clients and coordinate paperwork with international reps.
• Issue and track return merchandise authorizations (RMAs).
• Share open order updates with production and align sales and production priorities.
• Collaborate with accounting to reconcile ERP–FMIS sales orders and Deltek invoicing.
• Create and complete work orders in ERP; track WIP and finished goods inventory.
• Run process improvement test scenarios as needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inventory management, production control, logistics, or a related operational environment.
• Experience with ERP systems for inventory and production control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data analysis functions).
• Ability to learn new software applications quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Self‑starter, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred:
  Experience with SAP.
• Preferred:
  Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or technical teams.
• Preferred:
  Professional training or certifications in supply chain, logistics, inventory management, or production planning (e.g., ASCM/APICS, CPL, CLTD).
• Preferred:
  Familiarity with Lean Principles.
• Preferred:
  Experience in a fast‑paced, project‑driven or operations‑focused environment.

• Base salary range: $52,000 – $65,000 per year.
