We have an exciting opportunity for a Material Control Coordinator to join our Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) team in Acton, MA. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing manual and clerical duties involved in coordinating and tracking incoming materials through inspection, stockroom, and production. The role includes receiving, loading, unloading, counting, weighing, and conveying materials, recording information, coordinating outbound shipments, examining stock for conformance to specifications and invoices, requisitioning stock, and preparing stock‑use reports.
The Coordinator may provide direction to less experienced staff.
- Coordinates receipt of incoming materials. Checks materials received against vendor shipping documents and purchase orders for accuracy.
- Analyzes and monitors inventory and work orders. Ensures traceability of material and/or parts.
- Coordinates with various departments to support department material requirements.
- Updates and monitors daily movement of parts and provides information to appropriate personnel regarding back‑order of critical scheduled material.
- Delivers materials as required for designated production areas and engineering projects.
- Reviews material requisitions issued to the stockroom to ensure material is properly allocated and storage will not impact production.
- Participates in physical inventory counts, and prepares lists of obsolete and excess quantities of stock components based on stock and location usage reports. Identifies, reports, and investigates inventory shortages, overages or discrepancies on the shop floor.
- Examines items received. Verifies conformance to quality clauses and receiving procedures.
- Reviews and monitors inventory and work order shortages, communicating requirements to planning.
- Coordinates with quality assurance and purchasing on the return of defective parts for repair or replacement. Ensures damaged or excess goods are processed through quality assurance and/or materials supervisor.
- Coordinates with safety on the processing and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Ensures verification of shipping documents and ships goods as required.
- Reviews the Material Requirements Planning report, inventory records, and bills of material to determine quantity and scheduling of deliveries.
- Examines stock to identify parts requiring quality assurance approval. Coordinates with quality control personnel, ensuring timely receiving inspection of materials.
- Transfers vendor shipper paperwork upon receipt of goods or after appropriate approval of parts. Ensures damaged or excess goods are processed through quality assurance and/or materials supervisor.
- Provides direction and guidance to less experienced staff. Oversees the daily tasks of assigned personnel.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications- Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and seven or more years of experience in a shipping/receiving, materials control or stockroom environment.
- Must have a thorough and detailed understanding of material control concepts and standards and have experience applying those concepts and standards using stockroom procedures and record‑keeping practices.
- Must be customer focused and possess:
- the ability to become certified in hazardous/radioactive material shipment and forklift driving;
- the ability to use judgment in recognizing deviations from the standard process and practices;
- the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs;
- excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills to interface with employees at all levels and to accurately document information;
- knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the position.
- The ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
Job Type: Full‑Time Hourly
Salary range: $56,180 - $83,518
