DSJ Global is partnered with a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing organization who is seeking an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Technician to join their team in Acton, MA
. This organization is investing heavily in U.S. manufacturing expansion and operates at the forefront of automated assembly and high-precision production technologies supporting a highly regulated industry.

As a Controls & Instrumentation Technician, you will play a critical role in bringing new automated production lines online and maintaining peak equipment performance
. You will work hands‑on with complex automation systems including PLCs, vision systems, robotics, lasers, and motion control
, taking ownership from installation and commissioning through ongoing troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

This role offers a strong mix of hands‑on technical execution and process optimization
, with the opportunity to collaborate cross‑functionally and train others in a fast‑paced, startup‑style environment.

Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, and troubleshoot automated assembly and process equipment
  • Program and support PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems
  • Work with vision systems, servo/VFD drives, and motion control technologies
  • Lead equipment startup, debugging, qualification, and acceptance testing
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Execute and improve preventative maintenance programs
  • Troubleshoot control circuits, electrical systems, and instrumentation issues
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize system performance
  • Train operators and technicians on equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Document maintenance activity and support compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working with automation, controls, or instrumentation in manufacturing
  • Strong hands‑on experience with PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley preferred)
  • Proven experience troubleshooting automated production or assembly equipment
  • Experience with HMIs, vision systems, servo motors, and VFDs
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Cognex or Keyence vision systems
  • Knowledge of robotics, lasers, or advanced inspection systems
  • Familiarity with SQL databases or basic programming
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Background in startup or greenfield manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of machine safety standards
