Heavy Highway Construction Project Superintendent – responsible for supervising heavy highway construction contracts in Massachusetts, planning, scheduling, directing and coordinating activities of assigned projects to ensure objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. Ability to work flexible shifts (day/night) and adapt to schedule/location changes.

• Ensure safety compliance for crews, subcontractors, and the public; adhere to company, contract, state, and federal safety standards (MUTCD, OSHA, etc.).
• Supervise and coordinate all workers on projects, including subcontractors and vendors.
• Develop and communicate project schedules to customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure quality control plan and company quality standards are met.
• Manage project P&L.
• Maintain and submit daily reports.
• Track and document all work performed daily, including subcontractors.
• Reconcile quantities and ensure accurate, timely payments for all work performed.
• Analyze daily job cost reports and weekly trend reports; recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, final product quality and crew performance.
• Place orders for materials, trucks and equipment as necessary.
• Request and submit purchase orders ahead of time for required purchases.
• Manage compliance with all contract requirements.
• Maintain correspondence with customers, subcontractors, admin staff and managers.
• Maintain time and materials records for daily job costing.
• Train new crew members.
• Communicate daily with Project Manager and customers regarding status of projects, schedule and payments.
• Participate in the estimating and bidding process.
• Preferred: ability to read plans/blueprints and basic survey knowledge.

• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff, customers, agencies and the general public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s in construction management preferred.
• Secondary education with construction management or civil focus is preferred.
• 5+ years of heavy highway construction supervision (MassDOT experience preferred).
• Knowledge of MassDOT specifications and contract documents preferred.

• Salary: $90,000–$120,000 (based on experience) + night shift differential + bonus potential.
