Position Overview
We are currently seeking a candidate to drive a tractor with lowbed trailer to move road construction equipment between job sites and plants. Based out of Acushnet Facility.
EssentialJob Duties
- Safely operate various pieces of construction equipment such as pavers, rollers, excavators, and graders.
- Load and unload heavy equipment onto a lowbed trailer and secure the load for transportation.
- Transport heavy equipment between job sites.
- Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws, rules, and regulations.
- Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
- Maintain a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports.
- Report any defects, accidents, or violations.
- Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public at all times.
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site and be ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strictly adhere to all safety practices & procedures.
- Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Wear PPE, steel-toed footwear, and safety glasses.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment.
- Class A CDL license.
- Clean driving record.
- At least 1 year of driving experience.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Pass a pre-employment screening and testing.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements, procedures, and PPE policies.
Work can be performed at heights, requiring the employee to climb and balance ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.
Position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and lifting.
Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a work shift of at least eight hours per day, on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to carry, lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs without assistance.
Must be able to operate equipment under extreme temperatures and for extended hours.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project needs and demands.
