Job Overview
A General Laborer isresponsibleforassistingcontractorsandconstructioncrewswithvarioussitetasks.
Thisroleinvolvesbothmanuallaborandtheoperationofhandandpowertoolstofacilitateconstructionprojects.
Laborersworkoutdoorsinallweatherconditionsandareexpectedtodemonstratephysicalstamina,teamwork,andattentiontosafety
- Site Preparation&Cleanup:Remove debris,setupworkareas,andperformgeneralsitecleaningtomaintainasafeandorganizedenvironment
- Material Handling:Load,unload,andtransportconstructionmaterials,tools,andequipmentaroundjobsites
- Support Skilled Trades :Assist carpenters,masons,painters,electricians,andothercraftworkerswiththeirtasks
- Temporary Structures:Assembleanddismantlescaffolding,ladders,barricades,andothertemporarystructures
- Equipment Operation:Operatehandtools,power tools,andsmallmachinerysuchascompactors,forklifts,or generators,followingpropersafetyprotocols
- Manual Labor:Dig trenches,fillorcompactearth,mixandpourconcrete,andperformbasicdemolitionwork
- Safety Compliance:AdheretoOSHAstandards,wearpersonalprotectiveequipment,(PPE) andreportunsafeconditionstosupervisors
- Other Duties:Assistwithtrafficcontrol,monitorconstructionprogress,andperformdutiesassignedbysitesupervisors
- Education:Highschooldiplomaorequivalentpreferred ,but not required
- Experience:Previousconstructionorlaborerexperienceisbeneficialbutnot necessary.
- Physical Requirements:Abilitytoliftheavymaterials(oftenover
50lbs),standorwalkforlongperiods,workatheights,andwithstandextremeweatherconditions - Technical
Skills:
Familiaritywithhandandpowertools,basicequipmentoperation - Soft Skills:Teamwork,communication,reliability,problem-solving,attentiontodetail,andastrongworkethic
- Licensing/
Certifications:
Valid driver’slicensepreferred;
OSHAcertificationsorspecializedequipmentlicensesmaybeadvantageous
Constructionlaborerstypicallyworkonoutdoorsiteswithexposuretonoise,dust,andheavymachinery.
Schedulesmayincludeearlymornings,overtime,weekends,ortraveltomultiplejobsites.
Safetygearsuchashelmets,gloves,boots,andeyeprotectionisrequired
