Job SummaryUnder general direction of the physician and/or office manager, the Nurse Supervisor provides nursing care, plans and oversees departmental staff nursing activities ensuring effective nursing services are delivered. He/She promotes clinical competency and maintains quality control through leading and supporting survey readiness efforts for back‑office clinical operations. The role is part of an interdisciplinary team that delivers individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care.
CoreResponsibilities and Essential Functions
- Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice.
- Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects cultural diversity and adapts to patient characteristics.
- Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, planned teaching).
- Maintain current clinical practice standards.
- Coordinate safe quality patient care delivery and documentation across interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrate teamwork, fiscal responsibility, and support recruitment/retention of the healthcare team.
- Complete ongoing competency assessment and required education.
- Serve as preceptor/mentor for professional nurses and unlicensed staff/students.
- Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
- Uphold organizational policies, accreditation standards, and safety goals (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals).
- Participate in data collection, consult experts, and apply evidence to clinical questions.
- Plan for the continuum of care and manage resources efficiently.
- Lead staff scheduling, orientation, performance feedback, and in‑service training.
- Interpret and implement nursing standards, policies, and regulations.
- Lead annual competency checks for non‑provider clinical staff.
- Maintain appropriate staff credentials and licensure.
- Attend Clinical Champion meetings and disseminate best practices.
- Support financial viability through quality service and clinical excellence.
- Commission and participate in clinical site assessments and risk management initiatives.
- Assist with hiring and human resource delegation.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing;
Bachelor’s preferred.
- Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state Compact).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) or ARC‑BLS (American Red Cross) or BLS‑I (Instructor).
- Current active RN license in the State of Georgia (required upon hire).
- Minimum 2 years experience as an RN; 1 year as an RN or LPN with additional 2+ years in a physician practice setting acceptable.
- Supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
- Specific practice specialty experience preferred.
- Implement national nursing standards.
- Knowledge of health‑care and medical procedures.
- Interpersonal and human‑relations skills.
- Attention to detail and positive staff interaction.
- Time‑management, delegation, and team‑building skills.
- Proficient in verbal and written English and basic computer skills.
- Ability to optimize technology to support clinical care.
- Adherence to Well Star Credo and Code of Conduct.
