We are currently looking for a Full Time Welding Instructor to join our CIT Technical Trades team located at the Chickasaw Institute of Technology working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

The welder instructor is required to maintain license and certifications as a welder. The position will primarily teach in a classroom and workshop setting but may be assigned to other duties within the field of expertise. The position will also assist in selecting Chickasaw citizens as apprentices/students into the Welding Technical Trades programs in the Chickasaw Institute of Technology. The position will design and deliver classroom and workshop curriculum that trains participants in the welding trade.

Responsibilities:

* Teaches learners/students on weldability features, base materials, welding filler metal types

* Reads and explains typical welding codes, specifications, and drawings

* Exhibits advanced insight at welding symbols and welding definitions and terminology

* Delivers instructions on the operation of various power sources and related equipment

* Ensures basic safety instruction in the use of the equipment, troubleshoots and demonstrates the proper use of equipment

* Reviews the written welding instructional materials making sure they are as per code or standard

* Writes new welding instructions or lesson plans

* Prepares a clear and concise report of the performance data, inspection results and reviews

* Conducts visual inspections regarding in-process and confirm everything complies with the documents

* Evaluates the performance of welding students to verify their training and qualification in accordance with the applicable welding procedures

* Instructs welding safety in accordance with Safety in Welding and Cutting (American Welding Society), ANSI/ASC Z49.1, and Occupational Safety and Health Administrative Rules

* Assists with the selection of apprentices/participants into a technical trades program

* Develops and teaches curriculum in the classroom and workshop areas

* Develops and maintains a working relationship with all partners

* Assures that all participants apply for and receive their apprenticeship cards

* Signs off on apprenticeship applications to the Construction Industries Board when appropriate

* Assists management team in reviewing participant's progress

* Tracks and records on-the-job training hours and classroom hours

* Arranges a variety of on-the-job training sites

* Conducts work site visits where participants are doing on-the-job training hours

* Assigns on-the-job training work sites to the participants

* Performs hands on training to educate apprentices in the technical trade's fields

* Sets a work standard to be followed by the participants

* Takes care of all paperwork pertaining to the participants

* Reports apprentice OJT departures and arrivals to the CIT Student Services Manager on a weekly basis

* Performs hands on training to educate clients in the construction field

* Facilitates and conducts scheduled meetings as needed

* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency

* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities

* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
- Maintains and promotes professionalism
- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards

* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area

* 5 years directly related experience

Nonessential:

* 4 years directly related supervisory experience

Education:

* High School, GED or Equivalent

Credentials:

* Pass general background check

* Standard Driver's License

* OSHA Certification safety and health

* Certified Welding Educator

Essential:

* Preferred
