The Instructional Services Librarian/Instructor oversees the instruction and reference programs, and works to further information literacy on campus, all while providing reference, instruction, and liaison services to support the academic mission of the university community.
EssentialJob Duties
- Oversees the library’s instruction services with a focus on continuous improvement and interactive learning.
- Plans, implements, and assesses the library’s information literacy plan.
- Develops, schedules, and coordinates the library’s involvement with Freshman Seminar (UNIV 1001).
- Oversees Lib Guides Maintenance and Standards Compliance Review.
- Develops instructional materials for the library.
- Creates and maintains Lib Wizard forms for department operations.
- Provides instruction on library use and research skills in classroom, online, and reference desk settings.
- Serves as liaison to academic departments for research and collection development.
- Collaborates with faculty on information literacy curriculum development and special projects.
- Participates in university and library committee work.
- Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices through professional development.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Both experienced librarians, recent graduates, and current students from ALA-accredited MLS programs are encouraged to apply.
- Master's of Library Science
- 1-2 years of experience
- Experience with academic library systems, electronic resources, and instructional services preferred
- None
- Strong knowledge of principles and practices of academic librarianship
- Proficient in managing managing instructional programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and reference services
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and library software applications
- Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
- Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
- Ability to communicate in a courteous manner

This position operates in a typical office setting within an academic library environment. The work environment has moderate noise levels from conversations, and office equipment. The role involves regular interaction with staff, students, and library patrons.
