Position Overview
First United Bank is inviting applications for the Role of Relationship Banker I. The role involves creating and maintaining strong client relationships by acting as the primary point of contact for customers while promoting and managing our product portfolio. The Relationship Banker works independently, providing high‑level customer service, executing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Maintain a basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and regulatory issues including the Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, and deposit, transaction, and loan account operations.
- Follow accurate and efficient procedures for all customer‑servicing activities.
- Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
- Serve as the customer’s single point of contact for all First United Bank products and services.
- Consistently meet and often exceed performance goals, actively participate in sales campaigns, and promote new products and services to customers and colleagues.
- Attend meetings, bank functions, and community events as requested.
- Provide excellent service by greeting customers, using their names, building rapport, and fostering customer loyalty.
- Identify and match customer product needs by interviewing customers, discussing financial needs, making referrals, and ensuring all needs are met.
- Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, and ancillary products; provide account opening information; complete and enter required paperwork.
- Assist customers with routine account inquiries and requests such as balance inquiries, temporary statements, stopped payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfers, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, and notary services.
- Process a variety of transactions quickly and accurately, including checks, money orders, savings bonds, traveler’s checks, cashier’s checks, loan payments, and other services.
- Maintain appropriate drawer limits, perform cash verifications and vault duties, verify all transactions, place holds as needed, and prove the cash drawer at shift end to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
- Seek assistance to resolve discrepancies in cash handling and resolve customer complaints, problems, or other issues proactively.
- Review and resolve account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports on a daily basis, including assisting customers with charge‑off repayment plans.
- Perform security functions including opening and closing the bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety of bank premises.
- High school diploma strongly preferred; some college strongly preferred.
- One year of retail experience preferred; cash handling experience preferred.
- Superior customer service skills required.
- Basic mathematics to solve everyday problems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail required for daily work.
- Effective written and verbal communication with customers and co‑workers.
- Exceptional time‑management and independent work capability.
- Good judgment and sound decision‑making skills.
