Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist Assistant supports patient rehabilitation by administering evidence-based interventions under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. They provide skilled treatment to improve physical functioning and aid in patients’ recovery process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing treatment plans through manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of assistive devices.
- Evaluate patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust care plans accordingly.
- Document treatment sessions, patient progress, and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment procedures, progress, and discharge planning.
- Participate in team meetings, conferences, and ongoing training to stay current with clinical standards and facility policies.
- Support the supervision and mentorship of students under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active PTA license and current state licensure.
- Possess at least 1 year of PTA experience in Long-Term Care or Rehab settings.
- Demonstrate proficiency with clinical documentation and skill checklists within the past year.
- Be committed to practicing in accordance with APTA ethics, conduct, and state practice acts.
- Be able to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- New graduates considered with Level II clinical experience.
