POSITION TITLE:
Wound Care - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

The Wound Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team at Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center. This role focuses on delivering specialized wound care services while collaborating closely with COFMC physicians to ensure comprehensive patient management. The APRN serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff and allied health professionals, promoting best practices in wound assessment, treatment, and prevention.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
- Registered as an ARNP currently licensed to practice in the State of Oklahoma
- Current certification for practice from the American Nurses Credentialing Center
- Experience in ambulatory care setting preferred
- Experience in collaboration with interdisciplinary health teams
- Current continuing medical education (CME) and criteria for credentialing
- Currently licensed with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
- Currently licensed with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug (OBNDD) Control Certificate
- Participates in the provision of care and coordination.
- Perform advanced wound assessment, debridement, and management of acute and chronic wounds.
- Develop individualized wound care plans, including dressing selection, infection control, and prevention strategies.
- Provide education to patients and families on wound care techniques and prevention of complications.
- Ensure accurate documentation of wound care interventions and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participates in the coordination of community agencies and/or resources in providing continuity of care.
- Participates in the continuing education of the nursing staff as necessary.
- Conducts and/or participates in group educational experience for clients and/or families.
- Participates appropriately in staff activities.
- Elicit a chief complaint, history of present illness, patient profile, past medical history, family history and review of systems, including social, economic and emotional data.
- Performs a physical examination using the skills of auscultation, percussion, palpation and inspection.
- Establishes a problem list and plan of therapy including teaching and counseling, ordering and performing laboratory and diagnostic tests for baseline data, diet, pharmacotherapy, activity using problem-oriented medical record system.
- Make appropriate referrals to other resources when needed.
- Provides follow-up care for monitoring health and disease states, evaluating progress of each problem, and including patient education.
- Provides urgent wound care within scope of practice.
- Participates in clinical audit.
- Collaborates with physicians for wound care follow-up post-hospital discharge.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
