We are currently looking for a Full Time Float RN to join our Inpatient Staffing team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

Summary:

Provides professional and clinical healthcare services to Native American beneficiaries in the following patient care areas:
Acute Care, Women's Care/OB, Emergency Department, Surgery Center, and ICU.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in performance improvement activities to measure, assess and improve the quality of assigned work area
  • Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of data and information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provides and advocates age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based upon facility mission statements and as outlined in policies and procedures
  • Plans and provides routine and comprehensive patient care by utilizing and documenting the nursing process, including teaching patients and their families, and discharge planning
  • Completes care planning for all new patients and reviews the care plan for assigned patients every 24 hours
  • Attends discharge planning meetings as assigned
  • Calculates and administers prescribed medications, IV fluids, and blood products according to facility policies and procedures
  • Oversees the administration of medications, IV fluids and blood products for LPN's and LPN II's, according to facility policies and procedures
  • Participates in educating staff in competency issues, including the orientation of new staff to the unit
  • Provides a 24-hour assessment of patients for LPN staff on the same rotation
  • Coordinates with staff when notification of the physician is needed for changes in patient condition to ensure that all needed documentation and information is available
  • Ensures adherence to the standards of other regulatory agencies
  • Plans and implements patient care in a manner that ensures it is appropriate to the patient's needs, age and condition
  • Provides a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by the reducing and controlling environmental hazards and risks and the preventing accidents and injuries
  • Maintains a positive attitude, even in stressful situations, have strong emotional intelligence and maturity
  • Greets and introduces self; updates communication board; gives bedside report, if applicable, during shift hand-off
  • Answers call lights and cares for patient needs in a manner that puts patient satisfaction and high-quality patient care as top priority
  • Maintains annual educational requirements
  • Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
  • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Punctuality and consistency in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
  • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
  • Assists the provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures, exams, specimen collection, and other care as directed
  • Coordinates with other team members to ensure meaningful hourly rounding is completed
  • Documents assessments, interventions, all aspects of patient care, and the patient's response to interventions
  • Charge nurse duties may include the following, not an all-inclusive list:
    Make appropriate and safe patient assignments, facilitate safe patient flow of admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Communicates with the house supervisor and staff nurses about patient status and changes
  • Promotes cohesiveness among the interdisciplinary team
  • Provides oversight of all agency and contract staff
  • Transfers care as appropriate, utilizing the SBAR system
  • Ensures adherence to facility standards and those of other regulatory agencies
  • Advocates and actively participates in patient education, i.e., diagnosis, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Must work a total of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Must work day and night shifts consistently, as requested by the Inpatient Staffing Manager and/or Inpatient Staffing Coordinator
  • Must work 1 major holiday (4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) and 3 minor holidays (Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Piominko Day, and Veteran's Day), each year
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
