Overview
This position is located in Ada and Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Adult Protective Services Specialist with an annual salary that varies by level. Travel is extensive; a valid driver9s license and required car insurance are required. Hours worked may be on-call.
- Receive and investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable Oklahoma adults.
- Determine capacity and provide voluntary or involuntary services based on needs.
- Coordinate service plans, prepare legal forms, attend court hearings, and provide testimony as necessary.
- Assist with training and perform follow-up activities for ongoing cases; coordinate service plans for adults.
- Prepare legal forms for APS court hearings and attend hearings as needed.
- Attend case staffing and other training offered outside the APS academy; perform independent investigation of routine APS referrals (Level I).
- Conduct prompt and thorough APS investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation (Level II).
- Assess risk, needs, and capacity of vulnerable adults; offer protective services and write client-centered service plans.
- Interview vulnerable adults, alleged perpetrators, and collaterals in person and by phone; document all case data including complete interviews.
- Prepare cases for court for involuntary services and participate in courtroom activities; provide testimony when required.
- Develop community and internal partnerships for service delivery; coordinate with APSS District Director when appropriate; staff cases at specific points in processing; participate on committees and panels as needed.
- Provide training and presentations to internal and external partners; involve the adult and family in the development of service plans and follow up as prescribed by policy or as needed.
- Level I: A bachelors degree in any field is required.
- Level II
:
Either a masters degree or a bachelors degree plus one year of experience in professional social work.
- Level I H26A – $38,857.35 + Full State Employee Benefits
- Level II H26B – $41,770.20 + Full State Employee Benefits
This position plays an integral part in keeping vulnerable Oklahoma adults safe.
Notes: Travel is extensive. On-call hours may apply. This is a position in the Oklahoma Civil Service.
