Pay Range: $33.97/hr – $39.91/hr
Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on plant equipment and systems to ensure continuous, efficient, and safe operation of production facilities.
New hires will train on first shift and then transition to an off-shift schedule.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, blueprints, and schematics to perform maintenance and service tasks.
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Perform advanced maintenance work including welding, cutting, lubrication, millwrighting, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Conduct scheduled and emergency repairs on plant equipment.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance priorities and downtime events.
- Lead major repair projects to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Identify and requisition necessary replacement parts using equipment drawings or the company’s computer system.
- Perform and recommend preventive maintenance programs and spare parts inventories.
- Record maintenance activities, time, and materials used during shift operations.
- Support plant improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and standard work procedures.
- Perform pipe fitting, plumbing, carpentry, and fabrication work as needed.
- Train and mentor junior maintenance personnel.
- Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in advanced mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial setting.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment drawings, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces throughout the shift.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal trade or technical training preferred.
Experience:
- Experience maintaining industrial machinery such as conveyors, pumps, drives, valves, bearings, gear reducers, air compressors, hydraulic systems, and mobile equipment preferred.
Licensing:
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Must be available to work assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Call-ins may occur for emergency repairs.
- Exposure to noise, dust, high places, confined spaces, bright or low lighting, and varying weather conditions.
- Safety equipment such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection required.
- Additional PPE required for welding or specific department duties.
- Employees will receive initial and ongoing training in equipment operation, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space entry, and other safety procedures.
- Refresher training will be provided as needed per regulatory or company requirements.
