Senior Accountant

Reports to:

VP of Finance and Accounting

Pirtano is seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing, multi‑entity organization. This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and helping modernize accounting processes in a fast‑paced, operationally driven environment.

• Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes across multiple entities
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Assist in consolidations and intercompany accounting

• Oversee job cost accounting and support project‑based financial tracking
• Partner with operations to analyze job profitability, labor costs, and margins
• Monitor WIP (Work‑in‑Progress) schedules and revenue recognition (percentage of completion)

• Maintain and optimize Net Suite, including workflows, reporting, and integrations

• Collaborate with HR/payroll (ADP or similar) on payroll accounting, benefits accruals, and deductions
• Support accounting for 401(k), benefits, and multi‑state payroll compliance impacts

• Assist with annual audit, 401(k) audit (Form 5500), and external reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with multi‑state tax filings and regulatory requirements
• Maintain and improve internal controls and documentation

• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and reduce risk of error
• Support implementation or optimization of ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools
• Contribute to automation initiatives and improved financial visibility

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with multi‑entity, construction industry or project‑based industry
• Advanced Excel skills, experience with BI tools a plus
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment

• CPA or CPA candidate
• Experience in the construction industry
• Experience with union environments and certified payroll
• Familiarity with ADP or similar payroll systems
• Exposure to multi‑state operations and compliance
• High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong communication skills across finance and operations
• Process‑driven with a mindset for continuous improvement
