Teacher Assistant – In School Intervention
Location: Addison Trail High School, DuPage High School District 88, Addison, Illinois

Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $18.95 to $20.48 Per Hour
Purpose StatementThe Teacher Aide (BIC/ISI) assists in the implementation of a behavior modification program and monitors and reports student behavior and performance.
Essential Functions- Administers and monitors classroom assignments, tests, homework, make‑up work, etc., supporting students in the instructional process.
- Implements, under the supervision of an assigned teacher, modifications as required by IEPs for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files, ensuring availability of items, providing written references, and maintaining a safe learning environment while meeting mandated requirements.
- Monitors students during assigned periods, providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations to inform teachers and/or parents of students’ progress.
- Reports observations and incidents (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions) to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) to resolve immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries from students, teachers, administrators, and parents, solving problems, providing information, or directing to other sources.
- Attends meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and convey information related to job functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Performs general record‑keeping and clerical functions (e.g., attendance logs, activity reports) to support teachers and supervisory staff in meeting mandated requirements.

- Skills:
operating standard office equipment and using relevant software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records. - Knowledge: safe practices in classroom and other activities; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary; reading and writing communication skills.
- Abilities: scheduling activities; gathering and collating data; using basic job‑related equipment; flexibility to work with others; problem‑solving to identify issues; consistently attending work; supervising and disciplining students according to approved policies; modeling appropriate social skills; applying behavior modification techniques; intervening positively and diffusing confrontations.

Work EnvironmentPhysical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; significant fine‑finger dexterity. Job distribution: 38 % sitting, 25 % walking, 38 % standing. Work performed in a generally hazard‑free, clean environment.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
LicensesEducator License with stipulations – Paraprofessional endorsement or higher.
