Purpose Statement
St. Philip the School in Addison, IL is seeking candidates for an intervention/resource teacher. The primary duty of an intervention/resource teacher is to ensure that students have access to the resources necessary to attain maximum achievement. The intervention/resource teacher supports students both directly and indirectly with IEPs, ISPs, 504 plans and accommodation letters. The intervention/resource teacher is seen as an advocate for students.

The intervention/resource teacher works with small groups of students, both in a push-in and push-out model, for both math and reading, to support a student's overall academic growth. The ideal candidate has an unwavering belief that all students can learn, is driven and can take initiative, is well organized and detail-oriented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Job Specific
  • Maintain a master list of students with academic and behavioral supports and/or concerns
  • Create and coordinate a master schedule for new testing and re-evaluation
  • Gather and organize grade-level/subject area universal assessments and develop a system for progress monitoring
  • Use data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional supports
  • Design systems and tools to measure the effectiveness of Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports
  • Develop a system and series of steps that must be taken before a student is referred for testing
  • Observe in classrooms in order to make recommendations to teachers on how to best support students struggling to perform
  • Help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual children and groups of children to enhance their acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills (including special teachers)
  • Support teachers in documenting student's progress
  • Assist teachers in making the necessary accommodations for testing (standardized and summative)
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups in a pull out and push in model with students requiring services
  • Facilitate the Student Success Team (SST) process with principal, support staff, instructional staff and parents
  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences and IEP/testing result meetings
  • Provide professional development on an as needed basis
  • Participate in the analysis of student work or faculty meetings and help create action steps
  • Meet once a month with teachers who have students with IEPs, ISPs, 504 plans, or accommodation letters
  • Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations of the subject taught, and attendance at in-services

  • Education and Experience
    • Candidates must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out of state certificate from a state with which Illinois has reciprocity. LBS1 certification preferred.
    • Holds a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline that is applicable to the teaching assignment. Master's degree preferred.
    • Practicing Catholic preferred but is required to teach religion or theology courses.
    Salary Range $31,824 - $58,352
