Building Substitute Teacher
Location: Addison, Illinois

Reports To: Assistant Principal
Duration: School Year, 177 days
Purpose: Perform the regular teacher’s class plan while the teacher is absent.
Essential Functions- Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Assume responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
- Perform all other teacher duties during absence.
- Prepare lesson plans with assistance when not available.
- Maintain records: check test papers, record grades, assignments, and other clerical work.
- Provide assistance to students needing special help when no teacher is present.
- Provide individualized and small group assistance as indicated by lesson plans.
- Support administration and clerical personnel in other functions when no instructional period is assigned.

- Skills: Operating standard office equipment, using software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge: Basic math (fractions, percent, ratios), reading manuals, writing documents following prescribed formats, presenting information, understanding complex written and oral instructions; concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; age-appropriate activities.
- Abilities: Schedule activities, collate data, use basic job-related equipment; flexibility to work with others, work with data, operate equipment using standardized methods; problem solving to identify issues and create action plans; communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, set priorities, work as part of a team, handle constant interruptions.
Work under limited supervision using standardized procedures; lead, guide, and coordinate others.
Working Environment & Physical DemandsOccasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity. Job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, 45% standing. Performed in a clean, minimal temperature variation environment.
Education & LicensesEducation: Bachelor’s degree
Licenses: Substitute License or higher.
Salary$150 to $225 Per Day.
