Ceramic tile layers install ceramic mosaic quarry marble tile and decorative tiles.
Length of Apprenticeship:Four years. Apprentices begin by attending a mandatory, unpaid eight-week pre-apprentice session. Apprentices receive on-the-job training five days a week. Apprentices also attend school for eight hours two days per month from September through May.
Wage Information:- 0 to 1000 hours of on-the-job training: 50% of journey persons wage
- 1001 to 2000 hours of on-the-job training: 60% of journey persons wage
- 2001 to 3000 hours of on-the-job training: 65% of journey persons wage
- 3001 to 4000 hours of on-the-job training: 70% of journey persons wage
- 4001 to 5000 hours of on-the-job training: 75% of journey persons wage
- 5001 to 6000 hours of on-the-job training: 80% of journey persons wage
- 6001 to 7000 hours of on-the-job training: 85% of journey persons wage
- 7001 to 8000 hours of on-the-job training: 90% of journey persons wage
Health and welfare, pension local and international, annuity.
Basic Requirements:- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must take and pass an aptitude test.
- Must take and pass an oral interview.
- Must take and pass a drug test.
Ceramic tile layers work both inside and out.
Recommended Preparatory Classes:Mathematics, geometry, shop and blueprint reading classes.
Abilities:- Must be able to withstand working on your hands and knees for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects.
Previous construction experience could be beneficial but is not necessary for acceptance.
