Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance Technician plays a key role in ensuring that packaging materials and products meet strict quality standards for the healthcare and medical device markets. Working on 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, this position focuses on mechanical testing, visual and dimensional inspections, color matching, and accurate documentation within an ISO 9001 laboratory environment that supports a growing, innovation-driven organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical tests on materials and products to verify compliance with quality and performance specifications.
  • Conduct detailed visual inspections, including taking precise measurements with a ruler to confirm correct dimensions and print placement on packaging.
  • Carry out color matching evaluations to ensure products meet required color standards and appearance criteria.
  • Perform leak tests and tensile testing to assess material integrity, durability, and performance under stress.
  • Use measurement tools, including rulers, to verify that packaging prints are located accurately and consistently on finished products.
  • Identify defects and nonconformities in materials and products during testing and inspection activities.
  • Communicate identified defects and quality concerns clearly and promptly to the production and quality teams.
  • Document all tests performed, inspection results, and defects found in a clear, accurate, and organized manner.
  • Maintain good documentation practices for outputs related to production machines and quality processes.
  • Retrieve samples from the manufacturing floor and transport them to the laboratory multiple times per day, ensuring proper handling and traceability.
  • Stay with samples from start to finish through the testing process to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Work within an ISO 9001 quality environment, following established procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to lab rules and safety protocols, including fragrance-free policies, PPE use, and restrictions on personal devices in the lab.

Essential

Skills:

  • Ability to perform mechanical tests, leak tests, and tensile testing with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong visual inspection skills, including the ability to take precise measurements with a ruler and verify correct print placement on packaging.
  • Capability to perform color matching and accurately distinguish colors for quality assessment.
  • Good documentation skills to record test results, production outputs, and defects in a clear and organized manner.
  • Attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach to quality inspection and quality assurance tasks.
  • Comfort working in a laboratory environment with regular exposure to a manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE, including steel-toed shoes, and follow all safety protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively on 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) in a stable and growing business.
  • Capability to work in an ISO 9001 environment and follow established quality control procedures.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required.
  • A degree with no prior experience is acceptable for this role.
  • Manufacturing experience without a degree is also acceptable.
  • Experience with GMP, laboratory work, production environments, quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Interest in learning about the broader business and growing into other departments or leadership roles as opportunities arise.
  • Ability to thrive in a friendly, collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work in a fragrance-free lab and comply with policies regarding personal devices.

Work Environment:
