As a Sr. Maintenance Technician (internally known as the Automation Whisperer), you will be the top level of support for the mechanical systems in our Fulfillment Center. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex problems, and performing mission‑critical repairs on equipment to keep the Fulfillment Center fully operational. You will work closely with vendors and internal partners to diagnose problems and perform repairs across a range of material handling equipment to support safe and efficient operations.

As a Sr. Maintenance Technician, you will manage proactive maintenance on conveyor systems, diagnose root causes of complex problems, perform emergency repairs, train level‑2 technicians and apprentices, conduct daily visual and auditory inspections, coordinate support activities with vendors, maintain fire/sprinkler systems, standby generators, HVAC equipment, and other equipment within the fulfillment center. You will also climb ladders, use forklifts, scissor lifts, saws, drills, hand tools, and partner with the Fulfillment Center leadership team to understand mission and support operational changes.

Typical Day
  • Perform advanced preventative maintenance on conveyor systems in the distribution center, including sorters, powered conveyors, truck loaders, and other material handling equipment.
  • Using prior knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer‑controlled equipment to diagnose root cause of complex problems.
  • Perform emergency repairs on the most complex equipment as needed.
  • Train level‑2 technicians and apprentices in proper maintenance, repair, and inspection methods.
  • Perform daily visual and auditory inspections of the equipment, noting and addressing issues found.
  • Perform advanced diagnostic tests as needed and coordinate support activities with 3rd‑party vendors.
  • Act as stop‑level support for fire/sprinkler systems, standby generators, HVAC equipment, etc., and other equipment within the fulfillment center.
  • Climb ladders, use forklifts, scissor lifts, saws, drills, hand tools, etc.
  • Partner with the Fulfillment Center leadership team to understand mission and support needed operational changes through planning and executing directives.
To Land This Opportunity
  • You have 5+ years of mechanical experience in an automated distribution center environment utilizing powered conveyors, sorters, and other automated material handling equipment.
  • You excel at troubleshooting complex problems with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer‑controlled equipment in an industrial environment.
  • You can perform complex repairs of equipment with the help of remote support and have experience reading technical manuals and blueprints.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and are willing to infrequently travel to other facilities (in company vehicle) as needed.
  • You can work 10:00 AM-6:00 PM (CST) M-F with flexibility as needed (rotation on Saturdays).
  • You’re an all‑star communicator and are fluent in English (both written and verbal).
  • You have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform 8 or more hours of standing, bending, lifting, walking, and carrying products in combination at any given time.

About Your Future Team

The salary range for this role is $67,150.30 – $82,072.59 annually ($32.28 – $39.45 hourly), which is based on qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Parts Town is a pay‑for‑performance company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a profit‑sharing program and an annual bonus depending on the role.
