Next Step Recruiting has partnered with an established insurance and financial services organization to identify a Senior Accountant, Accounting Policy. This role supports a corporate finance and controllership team focused on technical accounting guidance, policy development, and regulatory compliance. Opportunities are available in Addison, TX or Montpelier, VT in a hybrid work environment.
This position is well-suited for an accounting professional who enjoys technical research, interpreting guidance, and advising on complex transactions. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally with finance leadership and business units to ensure accounting policies remain aligned with current standards and regulatory expectations.
Required- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and an active CPA designation
- 5+ years of experience in technical accounting, accounting policy, or public accounting audit
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
- Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions
- Ability to communicate technical accounting topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Background in insurance, ideally life, health, or property and casualty environments
- Familiarity with statutory reporting and NAIC-related guidance
- Exposure to reinsurance, investments, or insurance product accounting
- Experience using accounting research platforms such as Checkpoint, DART, or CCH
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
