Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Our client, a growing organization within the real estate development and construction industry, is seeking an Accountant to join its finance and accounting team. This position will play a key role in supporting financial operations, project accounting, reporting, and month‑end close activities across multiple development and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience with project‑based accounting, and the ability to work collaboratively with finance, operations, development, and construction teams.

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project and construction accounting activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This individual will assist with budgeting, reconciliations, draw processes, and financial analysis while contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function.

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Monitor project budgets, job costs, commitments, and cost allocations across multiple projects.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet accounts.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
• Support construction draw requests and funding activities by preparing documentation and tracking project expenditures.
• Collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership teams to ensure accurate project cost reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits, tax filings, lenders, and investors.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiencies.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, construction, development, or project‑based environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with job costing, project accounting, and budget tracking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; ERP experience preferred.
• Familiarity with construction draws, retainage, cost allocations, and project funding processes is a plus.
• Experience supporting audits and working with external stakeholders.
