Utility and Airport Billing Specialist
Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, performs a variety of duties related to customer service for utility billing and airport tenant billing. Prepares reports, data spreadsheets, and account transactions. Maintains various financial and customer records and conducts reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Essential FunctionsResponsible for assisting with the accurate and timely preparation of all statements and reports related to the utility and airport billing, collection, and payment activities for the Town. Must demonstrate effective customer service skills. Coordinates with other departments regarding meter services and move-in requests. Assists in planning and helps control month-end, interim, and year-end reporting related to utility and airport billing and collection efforts.
Assists the Utility Billing Supervisor with the reconciliation of receivable accounts and other special projects as needed. Serves as primary back-up to Supervisor, managing the entire processes for both airport and utilities independently as needed. Interacts with customers to resolve utility and airport billing and collection issues. May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; AND Two (2) years of accounting experience in municipal finance or customer service; OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Conditions of Employment:

Knowledge of automated accounting systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word. Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures related to cash handling and billing. Knowledge of records maintenance and management practices and procedures. Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances. Skilled in typing and entering data with speed and accuracy. Skilled in creating and maintaining accurate spreadsheets;
performing mathematical calculations. Skilled in preparing clear, professional, and concise reports and documents. Skilled in managing and completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner; meeting deadlines. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Skilled in communicating effectively face to face, via phone, and in writing. Skilled in ensuring customer satisfaction and providing professional customer support.
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Office is located in a two-story building without an elevator. Work is generally performed indoors in an air-conditioned facility but may also include limited exposure to outside weather conditions.
