Alaïa Developer / Research Manager Components And Embroidery
Since 1964, Alaïa is a Parisian Fashion Maison, with a couture soul and a timeless sense of beauty. Azzedine Alaïa, a legendary master of cut, changed the look of fashion in the 80's with his sculptural silhouettes. Today, the Belgian Creative Director Pieter Mulier, perpetuates his quest of perfection and modernity, sharing the same technical skills and passion for arts. Shape driven creations and iconic knits are sculpted on the body, crafting unique interpretations of the free beauty of women.
Your mission will consist of participating in various fashion shows and meeting with suppliers to identify the latest trends in components and embroidery.
Main duties:
COMPONENTS
- Have a good knowledge of different components, supplies related to luxury ready-to-wear
- Have a good network of suppliers and maintain fluid and rapid communication with them
- Follow specific developments outside the garment such as buttons, label buckles, etc … but also the developments of internal components and supplies such as vests, shoulder pads, cigarettes, thermo, etc …
- Negotiate the prices of selected developments and components
- With the help of the buyer, follow the orders of collection rehearsals and respect the deadlines of the planning
- Research and propose substitutes if necessary
- Prepare production handovers and ensure that the products are in compliance with current legislation.
EMBROIDERY
- Have a very good introduction to different Embroidery Artisans in Paris and abroad, to embroidery mechanical companies in France and abroad, and to artisans in the transformation and manipulation of materials
- Be a force of proposal, present the novelties to the Studio
- Follow the developments, embroideries and ornaments, negotiate the prices
- Anticipate a possible industrialization of the embroideries and ornaments developed in collection
- Respect the delivery deadlines of the collection rehearsals.
DEVELOP/DESIGN
- Master design tools, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc…
- Be able to establish a technical drawing or a quick mockup
Profile sought:
You have at least 3/5 years of experience in the fashion sector and a good knowledge of suppliers in Europe
You have technical knowledge on components and embroidery, as well as technical knowledge on the product
You enjoy working in a team and master the unexpected
You show rigor, are a force of proposal and vigilant to imposed deadlines
You have a good mastery of the Office suite, Illustrator & Photoshop
French and English are required, Italian would be a plus.
