We are seeking a talented Machine Shop Planner to join our team and help shape the future of rocket motor manufacturing.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented machine shop planner to join our team in Addison TX. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient scheduling, planning, and coordination of machining operations to support prototype development, testing, and production of aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine shop operations, CNC programming, conventional machining, production planning, shop supervision, and a strong understanding of quality requirements for aerospace manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed schedules for the machine shop, ensuring alignment with engineering R&D projects timelines and priorities
- Ensure compliance to established company policies and industry regulations (operations, safety and quality)
- Generate fabrication travelers and manage work flow to ensuring detailed documentation and part traceability
- Assist with coordination of machine shop resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize workflow and minimize downtime
- Collaborate with supply chain team to ensure the availability of raw materials, tooling, and consumables required for machining operations
- Work closely with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and quality
- Ensure all machining operations meet aerospace quality standards and specifications (AS9100 requirements)
- Serve as a liaison between the machine shop and engineering teams, providing updates to the shop manager and engineering leadership on project status and assist in developing strategies to mitigate scheduling conflicts
- Monitor machine shop capacity and recommend adjustments to schedules or resources to meet project deadlines
- Support ISO
9001 / AS9100 audits - Shop supervisory duties as required
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training and additional certifications preferred
- 5+ years of experience in production planning or machine shop operations, preferably in an aerospace R&D environment
- Experienced with machining processes, including CNC, 5 axis, and manual machine
- Experience with first article inspections and developing hardware inspection plans
- Proficiency in planning software (Deltek, SAP, or similar)
- Strong understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross functional teams
- Strong problem solving skills with a focus on process optimization
- Experience in prototype development and lowvolume production
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, including composites and high temperature alloys
- Experience with scheduling software or tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
- NC programming experience in Mastercam or similar
