Position Summary
The Drafter/Designer III is responsible for developing conceptual designs, reviewing drawings, and providing support to the engineering team. This position designs project-specific items to be manufactured by our company and other companies, facilitates internal workflow, and collaborates with Project Management and Engineering professionals to develop design concepts and engineering documents.
Responsibilities- Receives, reviews, and interprets project requirements and design information including Scope of Work, Engineering Specification Reviews, calculations, placement sketches, construction notes, controls component specs, and internals order forms to complete designs.
- Provides a timely and accurate response to all inquiries.
- Interacts closely with both Project Engineers and Manufacturing Personnel to meet customer needs.
- Produces 3D parts, assemblies, and layouts created in CAD, GA and fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and prototype designs to support customer requirements, using Pro/E Creo (version 5 or later).
- Makes necessary corrections to existing drawings following the quality review process.
- Determines appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by updating an existing CAD file.
- Reviews drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology.
- 3-5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties (8 years of mechanical engineering experience in lieu of degree).
- Working knowledge and experience with Pro/E Creo (version 5 or later).
- Basic understanding of welding processes, callouts, and applications.
- Familiarity with Creo Sheet metal design.
- Prior experience in engineering design and ASME pressure vessel manufacturing industry.
- Basic understanding of controls and instrumentation and ability to translate concepts to design.
- Incumbents expected to travel as needed to support assigned business lines and must travel across borders.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Job operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Requires concentrated mental and/or visual attention, high accuracy, and hand‑eye coordination for sustained periods.
- Typically performed under comfortable working conditions; no disagreeable elements during normal performance.
