Project Manager II

The Project Manager II owns, initiates, plans, executes, and finalizes medium to large projects from inception to completion. This role leads cross‑functional projects with moderate complexity, ensuring requirements and deliverables are established and met for all stakeholders—including customers, management, and project teams—while delivering projects before schedule and below budget. Responsibilities include acquiring resources, coordinating team and vendor efforts, defining project objectives, and overseeing technical and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Manage emission systems projects across various industry applications, including energy, HRSG or simply cycle power plants, and refinery projects.
  • Document and manage scope and detailed requirements throughout the project life cycle.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to generate deliverables and obtain customer approval of proposed designs.
  • Maintain commitment to the schedule, communicating and following up with team members to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Work with project engineering to keep the schedule on track and identify change orders.
  • Develop project plans for schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Coordinate with resources managers, lead team members, finance, and executives.
  • Report status to stakeholders through formal communication methods (monthly status reports, bi‑weekly snapshot reports, project plan updates) and informal methods (ad‑hoc requests and email).
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and stakeholders on project goals, status, issues, risks, and potential mitigation solutions.
  • Monitor actual project hours and costs against estimates and budget.
  • Make final decisions on subcontractor selections based on total cost of ownership and ensure project goals are met, providing technical support during construction and holding subcontractors accountable.
  • Lead logistic preparations, field installation support, and coordinate commissioning so the project can close with invoices paid in full, lessons learned, and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of project management experience in energy, emission controls, refinery, or structural steel fabrication.
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Business, Industrial, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of industry processes, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrument, and controls with the ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and create field erection procedures.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles, achieve goals, and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Experience using MS Project scheduling, MS Office, Excel, and an understanding of ERP systems.
Licensing or Certifications
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Availability to travel as required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
