Operations Manager
Job Summary
The Project Manager II is responsible for leading cross‑functional engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery before schedule and within budget.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:- Manage emission systems projects for a variety of industry applications including energy, HRSG or simple cycle power plants and refineries.
- Document and manage scope and detailed requirements through the life of the project.
- Collaborate with the Engineering group to generate document deliverables and obtain customer approval of proposed designs.
- Maintain schedule commitments, communicating and following up regularly with team members to ensure tasks are completed according to plans.
- Work with project engineering to maintain schedule and pursue change orders.
- Develop project plans for schedule, resources, and budget.
- Collaborate with resources managers, lead team members, finance, and executives.
- Report status to stakeholders through formal communication methods (e.g., monthly status reports, bi‑weekly snapshots, project plan updates) and informal methods.
- Effectively communicate with project team members, management, and stakeholders on project goals, status, issues, risks, and potential mitigation solutions.
- Monitor actual project hours and costs against the project/program estimates and budget.
- Make decisions on final subcontractor selections based on total cost of ownership and ensuring project goals are met, providing technical support for fabricators during construction of equipment.
- Lead logistical preparations, field installation support, and coordinate commissioning of the equipment so the project can be closed with invoices paid in full, lessons learned, and the customer satisfied.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in energy, emission controls, refinery, or structural steel fabrication.
- BS degree in Mechanical, Business, Industrial or Project Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledgeable of industry processes, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrument, and controls with ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and create field erection procedures.
- Ability to overcome obstacles to achieve goals and adapt to a changing environment.
- Experience using MS Project Scheduling, MS Office, Excel, and understanding of ERP.
Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
Travel RequirementsAbility to travel as required; valid driver's license required.
ADA RequirementsThe role involves moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 20 pounds, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions. The job requires performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, high hand‑eye coordination for sustained periods, and compliance with company attendance standards.
