Sr. Electrical Engineer - Schematic Capture & PCB Design
Location – Addison, Tx
Job Type – Full time
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electronic circuit design and schematic capture for analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic circuits.
- Develop PCB layouts ensuring compliance with electrical, thermal, EMC/EMI, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to achieve robust product designs.
- Perform component selection, derating analysis, and obsolescence reviews.
- Support design reviews and implement engineering changes based on review feedback.
- Develop and execute hardware verification and validation activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including:
- Design documents
- Product drawings
- Engineering change documentation
- Test procedures
- Qualification test plans
- Qualification test reports
- Test summary reports
- Manufacturing support documentation
- Support prototype builds, debugging, board bring-up, and root cause analysis of hardware issues.
- Work closely with suppliers, fabrication houses, and contract manufacturers to ensure successful product realization.
- Participate in requirements analysis, risk assessments, and design verification activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry and customer standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design and development.
- Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as:
- Altium Designer
- Cadence Allegro/OrCAD
- Mentor Graphics (expirable)
- Experience with multi-layer PCB design and signal integrity considerations.
- Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Experience using laboratory equipment including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic Analyzers
- Spectrum Analyzers
- Digital Multimeters
- Power Supplies
- Ability to produce and review technical documentation and engineering reports.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, industrial automation, medical devices, or automotive electronics.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices.
- Familiarity with environmental and qualification testing.
- Experience with FPGA-based or embedded hardware designs.
- Working knowledge of reliability analysis and design for manufacturability (DFM).
