The Executive Director is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for leading the branch with a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient care. This role oversees the quality of the branch’s hospice services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, clinical best practices, and accreditation requirements. You will provide hands-on clinical leadership, guiding staff in delivering compassionate, high-quality care while also driving quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Through clinical oversight, education, and mentorship, you will support staff development, ensure adherence to hospice regulations, and enhance patient outcomes. Additionally, you will oversee staffing, financial management, and community relations to ensure the branch operates effectively and maintains a culture of excellence in patient care.
- Registered nurse (RN) licensed in Texas or in accordance with the Board of Nurse Examiners rules for Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- 5+ years of clinical nursing experience in hospice
- 2+ years of hospice branch leadership
- Comprehensive knowledge of hospice regulations, accreditation requirements, and quality standards
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience managing budgets, staffing, and compliance
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and educate clinical teams while fostering a culture of excellence
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with minimal supervision
- Valid state driver license
- Must maintain automobile liability insurance as required by law
- Must be eligible to complete the TX Administrator requirements
- Must not have been associated with the license of any organization that has had any judgments or sanctions within the past two years
- Provide clinical leadership to ensure high-quality, compassionate hospice care that meets regulatory standards and best practices
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in compliance with hospice regulations
- Monitor clinical performance and patient care quality, leading performance improvement initiatives (QAPI)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, maintaining necessary licenses, certifications, and agency credentials
- Act as a clinical resource for staff, providing mentorship, training, and education to support high standards of care
- Hire, train, and manage nursing and clinical staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet patient needs
- Supervise the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, chaplains, and aides, to coordinate patient-centered care
- Evaluate patient outcomes and satisfaction, using data-driven insights to improve care delivery
- Lead and implement Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs to enhance patient care and regulatory compliance
- Foster a culture of excellence, reinforcing hospice philosophy among staff, patients, families, and the broader community
- Work collaboratively with the Business Office Manager to develop, implement, and monitor an annual budget that supports clinical operations
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation to maintain compliance and continuity of care
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with care
- Supervise and participate in client satisfaction surveys, using feedback to guide improvements
- Set and track clinical performance goals, working with leadership to drive continuous improvement
- Ensure patient safety and ethical clinical practices while maintaining compliance with hospice standards
- Remain accessible in person or by phone during agency operating hours per regulatory requirements
- Designate an alternate clinical leader in writing to provide surveyors access if unavailable
