Overview
This position is responsible for following established procedures and protocols. The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. The scope of the position includes explaining procedures to patients, accurately operating imaging equipment, demonstrating clinical and age‑specific competencies in performing diagnostic procedures, and selecting accurate technical factors for optimal image quality. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for practicing radiation safety in the operations of radiation‑emitting equipment and reviewing images for interpretation.
Requirements- Technologists must be registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with TMB
- Maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS)
- Experience in operating C‑Arm and O‑Arm in the OR, extensive spine and orthopedics experience necessary
- Reviews and interprets physician orders for diagnostic x‑ray procedures accurately
- Validates patient identification before performing any diagnostic x‑ray procedure
- Communicates with patient to obtain medical history and/or specific medical information pertinent to the procedure and patient’s wellbeing during the procedure
- Validates proper working conditions and technical factors of all imaging equipment and procedure room
- Explains procedure to patient to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety; ensures comfort and safety
- Assumes responsibility for patient care during imaging, including infection control
- Follows procedure protocols and policies in performing diagnostic x‑ray procedures
- Demonstrates competence in collimation, patient positioning, and radiation safety to reduce exposure
- Practices radiation safety for patients, family, visitors, and self
- Critiques all images for image quality for interpretation
- Actively participates in the Quality Assurance program(s)
- Consistently demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and address them promptly
- Establishes and maintains rapport and cooperative working relationship with all department and facility members
- Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures and assist in other areas as needed
- Must be available in standby call to support the department/facility
- Representative physical demands; reasonable accommodations may be made
- Required to sit, converse, listen; use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; specific vision: close vision, focus adjustment
- Must lift/carry over 20 pounds regularly and push/pull over 25 pounds regularly
- Must stand and/or walk at least five hours per day
- Representative work environment; reasonable accommodations may be made
