Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced Payroll Analysts for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Addison, TX. This role combines technical payroll expertise with strong customer service and compliance skills in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities Payroll Processing- Process bi-weekly payroll for up to 4,000 employees per payroll analyst while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion and integrity.
- Audit payrolls during and after processing to ensure accuracy and adherence to approval requirements.
- Process off-cycle payment requests, termination payments, and separation (severance) agreements accurately and timely, in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Ensure compliance with SOX/internal controls related to payroll processing.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Generate and analyze payroll reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Identify recurring payroll issues and recommend process improvements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll inquiries from employees, HR, and leadership.
- Interpret and communicate payroll policies, procedures, and legal requirements clearly and professionally.
- Provide backup support during peak periods, including vacation, holiday, and year-end processes.
- Support process improvement and payroll automation initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field from an accredited college or university,
or equivalent education and experience
. - Equivalent experience is based on a 1:1 ratio (one year of college = one year of work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state or large company environment.
- Experience with Oracle EBS and UKG Pro Workforce Management
. - Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to handle sensitive/confidential information professionally.
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional).
- Service mentality, attention to detail, initiative, flexibility, and sense of urgency.
- Strong decision-making and logical problem-solving abilities.
