Overview

The Web Director is responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and performance of all website and web-related services at Lokal Media House. This role owns the full lifecycle of web delivery, from sales support and onboarding through build, launch, optimization, and ongoing improvements.

This is a leadership role that balances vision, process, and people leadership. The Web Director ensures our web offering is scalable, profitable, high-quality, and aligned with client growth goals, internal standards, and agency strategy.

This role partners closely with Client Strategy, SEO, Paid Ads, and Operations to ensure websites are not just visually strong, but built to convert, scale, and support performance marketing.

Key Responsibilities Web Strategy and Ownership
  • Own the agency’s web services offering, including structure, positioning, scope, pricing inputs, and delivery standards
  • Define and drive success for LMH websites from UX, conversion, performance, and technical perspectives
  • Ensure websites support SEO, paid ads, tracking, and long-term client growth
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, scalability, templates, and repeatable components
Delivery and Execution
  • Oversee all website builds, redesigns, hosting, maintenance, and post-launch improvements
  • Ensure projects stay on scope, on timeline, and meet quality standards
  • Partner with Client Strategy and Delivery to support smooth onboarding, expectation setting, and client communication
  • Establish clear handoffs from sales to web, and from build to ongoing optimization
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex web issues or client concerns
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Web team, including designers, developers, and any future web roles
  • Set clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations across the team
  • Create capacity planning and workload visibility to support agency growth
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and performance accountability
  • Build a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement
Process, Systems, and Documentation
  • Build and maintain clear SOPs for website builds, launches, QA, and maintenance
  • Improve workflows in Hub Spot, ticketing, and project tracking tools
  • Partner with Operations to ensure web delivery integrates cleanly into agency-wide systems
  • Reduce rework, missed steps, and inefficiencies through better process design
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with SEO, Paid Ads, and Client Strategy to ensure sites are conversion-focused and performance-ready
  • Support sales conversations as a subject matter expert when needed
  • Participate in leadership planning, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
  • Provide insight into future web trends, tools, and opportunities for the agency
Qualifications
  • 8-12+ years of experience in web design, development, or digital delivery roles
  • Proven success managing a team in an agency or high-growth environment
  • Strong understanding of UX, CRO, SEO fundamentals, and paid traffic requirements
  • Experience with Word Press and modern web frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead teams, build processes, and scale delivery
  • Comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on problem solving
Web Stack & Tools Familiarity

The ideal candidate has experience working within a modern agency web stack, including familiarity with many of the following tools and systems:

CMS & Web Platforms

  • Word Press (custom themes, ACF, custom post types, performance optimization)
  • Experience managing multiple client websites at scale

Hosting & Infrastructure

  • Managed Word Press hosting environments (e.g., WP Engine or similar)
  • Domain and DNS management (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of staging, production, and deployment workflows

Development & Build Tools

  • Git-based version control
  • Familiarity with modern front-end tooling (SCSS, build pipelines, component-based development)
  • Performance optimization tools (Core Web Vitals, caching, image optimization)

Security & Maintenance

  • Word Press security tools (firewalls, malware scanning, update management)
  • Ongoing maintenance and monitoring best practices

Analytics & Tracking

  • Google Analytics / GA4
  • Google Tag Manager
