Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Science Manager, Data Warehousing
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise logical and physical data models in Snowflake using dimensional modeling, Data Vault
2.0, and medallion architecture patterns - Translate business requirements, user stories, and source system analysis into well‑governed, performant data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define and evolve the enterprise data architecture
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and design patterns across the analytics platform
- Maintain a centralized data dictionary, and semantic layer definitions in coordination with data stewards
- Collaborate with the data governance team to classify data assets, document lineage, and ensure PII/PHI compliance within model designs
- Perform advanced data profiling, analysis, and reconciliation to validate model accuracy and completeness
- Optimize data model designs for query performance, storage efficiency, and scalability within Snowflake
- Support operational excellence through version‑controlled model deployments and CI/CD practices
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including model design reviews, Sprint Reviews/Commitments, and Sprint planning
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Mathematics, or related field
- 6+ years of professional experience in data modeling within data warehouse, big data, and analytics environments
- Deep expertise with Kimball dimensional modeling methodology, including star and snowflake schema designs
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience modeling in Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms
- Strong proficiency with model transformation, testing, and documentation
- Experience with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, SqlDBM, or similar
- Advanced SQL development skills including complex CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning
- Working knowledge of Data Vault
2.0 and medallion architecture patterns - Familiarity with data governance tooling such as Microsoft Purview, Alation, or Collibra
- Thorough understanding of systems analysis, SDLC, and Agile delivery practices
- Ability to analyze complex source systems and translate them into well‑structured analytical models with minimal supervision
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical designs to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience with CI/CD (Azure Dev Ops preferred), version control (Git), and automated deployment frameworks
- Prior work in fintech, risk analytics, consumer lending, or highly regulated environments is strongly preferred
Ability to effectively communicate with business users to understand business processes and translate them into logical data structures.
Highly proficient in analyzing business objectives, requirements, and source data to inform model design decisions.
Skills in design and documentation of scalable, governed data models that support analytics, operational insights, and machine learning.
Ability to design and maintain enterprise data architectures aligned with business architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman).
Experience with data integration patterns including ELT, CDC, and streaming ingestion as they relate to model design.
Highly proficient in SQL and comfortable with Python or other scripting languages for data profiling and validation.
Ability to analyze business and system processes to support solution development and data product design.
Understanding and ability to manage through enterprise-wide project/solution impacts, issues, and risks.
Ability to manage across company teams to ensure collaboration in support of high‑quality data assets.
Familiarity with semantic layer technologies and metrics layer patterns for governed self‑service analytics.
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Advanced experience with data modeling and diagramming tools (ER/Studio, ERwin, SqlDBM, Visio).
Fluent with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Comfortable in a fast‑paced and cutting‑edge data platform environment.
