Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle.

This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You’re equally comfortable explaining your team’s analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing technical trade-offs with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various engineering-specific programs and teams. You will be responsible for the system level design and deployment of the global fiber optic network that connects Google’s data centers to the world, ensuring continuous flow of data worldwide.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $192,000‑$278,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Pay is determined by role, level, and location.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in program management.
• 5 years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
• 5 years of experience in networking, data center, or telecom operations.
• 5 years of experience in project management and process improvement in the telecom or networking space.

• 8 years of experience managing cross‑functional or team projects.
• Experience in people management.
• Experience working in complex organizational settings such as ambiguity, shared accountability, and geographic dispersion.
• Excellent quantitative, presentation, problem‑solving, business acumen, and communication skills.

• Implement communications standards across a portfolio of programs, including executive and key partner communications.
• Establish a reliable cadence for program reviews, decision‑making, prioritization, and resource stewardship, ensuring measurable improvements in efficiency and utilization across the organization.
• Lead a governance structure that drives effective executive decision‑making and exposes and mitigates dependencies.
• Seek out change‑management opportunities that increase program velocity across multiple teams and apply governance to ensure effectiveness.
• Manage a program portfolio, solving problems that drive high business impact for the organization and product area.
