Partnerships at the Research Center
The Research Center of the Institut Curie is embedded in a rich environment in which it forms university and institutional links to increase its influence, pool resources and expertise, and develop its strategic position. It is supported by its institutional and university sponsors and by industry.
National PartnershipsThe Institut Curie can count on the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, the CNRS, the Inserm, and the universities (Sorbonne University, Paris Cité University, and Paris-Saclay University). The Institut Curie is also an associate member of the PSL University (Paris Sciences et Lettres). All research units of the center are associated with at least one of these institutions.
Privileged institutional partnerships have also been established with the CEA and the Pasteur Institute to develop joint projects and share expertise. Moreover, researchers initiate research projects in partnership with industry, thus valuing the results of their work.

International PartnershipsAt the European level, the Institut Curie extends its influence notably through the European Commission's calls for projects.
- Each year, the European Research Council (ERC) allocates prestigious grants, the "ERC". In 2022, 62 researchers from the Institut Curie had already received such funding since its creation in 2007, representing 10% of the total ERC awarded in life sciences in France.
- The Research Center also participates in international advanced training programs for young researchers such as the ITN (International Training Networks) within the units.
- The Institut Curie has been a member of the EU-Life alliance since 2013. Together, these 15 members can aim to promote cutting-edge research, share knowledge, and influence research and health policies at the European level.
- Curie Core Tech , the network of technological platforms of the Research Center, has been a member since 2017 of Core for Life, an alliance of life science excellence platforms in Europe. Its mission is to leverage the potential for coordination and the pooling of expertise and resources between member institutes.
- The Institut Curie has obtained the "HR Excellence in Research" label from the European Commission for its European strategy for human resources for researchers (HRS4R). Obtaining this label makes institutions more attractive to researchers and research staff. This label identifies institutions that, through a continuous and active improvement process, tend to offer a more favorable and stimulating working environment.
The Institut Curie has also obtained international accreditation from the OECI (Organisation European Cancer Institute), which recognizes it as an expert center in oncology, focused on multidisciplinarity, translational research, and clinical-research interactions.
The Research Center also conducts numerous projects beyond Europe. Institutional partnerships have been signed with research institutes to promote the development of projects, with associated funding, and exchanges between research teams. For example:
- NCBS-inStem, in Bangalore (India)
- NCI-NIH, in Bethesda (United States)
- Weizmann Institute, in Rehovot (Israel)
The international positioning of the Research Center is reflected by the successes of its researchers in international calls for proposals, its extensive program of seminars, the sabbatical stays of prestigious researchers, and the representation of more than 77 nationalities among its staff members.
The structuring programs also contribute to international development. For example, the PSL – Qlife Convergence Institute has formed privileged partnerships with the QBI UCSF (United States) and the University of Beijing - PKU (China).
The entire scientific community of the Research Center forms individual partnerships with other renowned international centers such as the Hubrecht Institute (Netherlands), MIT Boston (United States), the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (United Kingdom), and the Fundación Ciencia & Vida in Santiago (Chile).
International Collaborative PublicationsThese international collaborations have led to discoveries and innovations attested by significant publications. Thus, in 2023, 490 collaborative publications (out of 922 articles) were produced with foreign partners from 83 countries, representing 53.1% of our scientific output.
