Make a Difference As a Boiler Controls Technician

As a Boiler Controls Technician you ll experience hands‑on tasks and continuous learning. Your day‑to‑day duties begin with routine inspections and maintenance of boilers and thermal fluid heaters across the Ergon network, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. You ll tune and optimize burner combustion systems, collaborate closely with your team to solve problems, and use your electrical skills to maintain a safe and effective environment.

You will have a guaranteed 40‑hour workweek with a flexible schedule – four 10‑hour days (4/10s) from late spring to early fall, giving you long weekends. Weekend and after‑hours callouts are rare, and travel typically follows a Monday‑through‑Friday schedule, allowing you to enjoy your evenings and weekends. The role requires up to 75  travel; trip duration is capped at two weeks for the rare jobs that extend through the weekend.

Potential for over 300 hours of overtime annually offers ample opportunities for skill refinement.

Job Duties
  • Service, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on firetube boilers, thermal fluid heaters, and other fired equipment.
  • Maintain records of all service and repairs and ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Work with co‑workers and associates to develop and maintain strong working relationships in a cooperative work environment.
  • Maintain safe work practices and good hazard recognition in all aspects of the job.
  • Hold a valid driver s license.
Required Skills
  • Proficient with electrical multi‑meter and 120

    VAC and low‑voltage control circuitry.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Preferred experience with parallel positioning combustion control such as Fireye, Siemens, and Autoflame, as well as experience with VFDs, PLCs, single‑loop controllers and other electronic controls.
  • Capable of lifting or moving objects that weigh 50 pounds or more and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, and climbing tanks or other structures.
  • Capable of working extensive overtime, up to 80 hours, and weekends when needed.
