Position: Avionics Maintenance Technician - 1505

What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:

Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including
  • Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include, but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
  • Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
  • Work independently on projects.
  • Any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience Levels
  • Tech I 0‑2 years of experience in avionics, military avionics or electrical field. Must work under close supervision with constant check‑ins.
  • Tech II 2‑4 years of experience. Considerable knowledge with broad understanding; requires general supervision and instructions.
  • Tech III 4‑6 years of experience. Full knowledge and complete understanding; limited supervision required; can mentor others.
  • Master Technician 6+ years’ experience with corporate/business avionics systems; must have exclusive knowledge and must act as subject matter expert.
Your Initiative

Team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast‑paced environment. Must meet deadlines and obligations, interact with customers, and work under minimal supervision.

Your Sense Of Responsibility
  • Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules.
  • Maintain customer‑oriented work habits.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifts 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive arm and hand motion.
  • Standing for long periods.
  • Climb ladders and stairs; work in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer skills.
Mental Requirements
  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and perform functional tests for avionics and instrument systems.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Avionics Team Leader.

Working Conditions
  • Hangar environment with extreme temperature variations.
  • Work outside during aircraft runs.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts and other engine‑powered equipment.
  • Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.
  • Personal computer and work order prints.
