Travel Access Control Technician (Per Diem) Pay: $26-34/hr

Job Summary:

An AS Lead Access Control Technician is responsible for independently installing, configuring, and supporting audio/visual, networking, and access control systems. This role requires proficiency in structured cabling, device installation, basic programming, troubleshooting, and system integration across residential and commercial environments. This technician must have a working knowledge of network topology, IP configuration, VLAN basics, and cloud-managed systems. The position requires travel and the ability to work through complex challenges with a solutions-driven mindset.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Direct, assign, and schedule all technicians (L1, L2) across active projects.
• Hold field staff accountable to quality, punctuality, professionalism, and Bandera standards.
• Coach and mentor technicians, documenting performance improvements or issues.
• Provide corrective action — verbal warnings, write-ups, or removal from jobsite — as needed.
• Conduct jobsite visits for quality control and technician assessment.

Duties/Responsibilities Installation & Cabling:

• Run and secure cabling through walls, ceilings, floors, conduits, exterior pathways, and structural spaces.
• Terminate CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A, RG6, speaker wire, and access control wiring.
• Mount and install displays, projectors, speakers, racks, cameras, AV hardware, and access devices.

Networking & System Integration

• Configure basic network elements (IP addresses, DHCP, gateways, DNS).
• Assist with or independently configure switches, VLAN assignments, AP deployments, and cloud-managed controllers.
• Integrate system components across audio/visual, network, and access control platforms.

Access Control Support:

• Install and wire control panels, credential readers, door hardware, power supplies, and associated components.
• Assist with device configuration on systems such as PDK, Brivo, Unifi Access, Alloy Access, and future supported platforms.
• Documentation & Quality Control:
• Review blueprints, scopes of work, and job instructions prior to installation.
• Perform basic testing of cabling and devices to validate system performance.
• Ensure the install team understands the project scope and technical expectations.

Programming & Troubleshooting:

• Support programming of AV and access systems under the direction of senior staff.
• Control 4, PDK, Brivo, Unifi, Alloy Access, ButterflyMX, Chirp, and any additional brands Bandera chooses to adopt — as part of your everyday duties.
• Diagnose and resolve common AV, IT, and access system issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adhere to Bandera quality standards.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years of related AV, low-voltage, or access control experience.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with mobile applications.
