Internship Opportunity in Applications Modernization

We are looking for a six-month internship starting September 2026. The PRIME Program was set up in 2025 to unlock business value by modernizing the core insurance applications hosted on the IBM mainframe platform while ensuring a controlled ramp down of the technical platform. AXA's challenge is not Mainframe; but to unlock business value with agentic AI. This requires transforming core legacy applications (claims, underwriting, policy management…) currently running on Mainframe due to functional and data limitations, technical complexity, and skills scarcity.

The cloud (private or public) is the natural landing platform as it better supports AXA's business ambition.

The central team has now evolved to focus entirely on the synergies enablement through the creation of an applications modernization Center of Excellence (CoE). The CoE acts as a synergies enablement hub by ensuring cross-entity collaboration, knowledge capitalization, sourcing optimization, and reusable assets development — while respecting local ownership and context.

Assist the applications modernization CoE lead and team to develop and steer a high-impact Group Centre of Excellence (CoE) to enable with AI faster, de-risked, and cost-optimized core insurance applications modernization journeys across 14+ entities.

Assist the CoE synergy teams to fully deliver the expected CoE benefits in four main areas of synergy to contribute to: (1) community & knowledge building (2) global procurement (3) technical platform optimization (4) application modernization. As an example of activities around application modernization AI tooling & IT services:
Identify the most relevant AI tooling and services to analyze, understand, and modernize legacy applications (reverse engineering, code analysis, developer tooling, and AI assistance etc.) In terms of activities and deliverables:

• Synergy working group organization, facilitation, and action plan follow up
• Development on assets (methodology, position papers, lessons learned…) in agreement with the synergy leads & working groups objectives & backlog
• Development of the community, communication & knowledge base
• Development of the right reporting and analytical view to support the steering of the synergies and associated decision-making

Ownership of specific projects. Over time and depending on the level of autonomy and availability, take direct ownership of some deliverables in the Center of Excellence to get the opportunity to deep dive more into the content. For instance (but to be defined together), running a study on a potential new tool/solution, the organization of a large event, the definition of a target operating model… The idea is to demonstrate the end-to-end ownership of some deliverables as part of the internship for future career opportunities.

Ability to work in a very multi-cultural and global environment. 360° understanding of key streams of work required to run a very large transformation Program. The tools and frameworks to organize the work efficiently when running a complex Program. Take end-to-end ownership of some deliverables. Get exposed to senior stakeholders in the organization.

English:
Very advanced level (spoken and written). Good general knowledge of the IT ecosystem overall. Ability to digest complex information (sometimes technical) to present a clear summary for decision-making and actions (ppt, excel…). Adapts quickly to changes, demonstrates speediness to perform complex tasks efficiently in fast-paced, moving, or uncertain environments. Rigorous, ensuring discussions and taken decisions are recorded and followed up with particular care of details.
