Adel, GA with regular travel to Tampa, FL
Southeast Steel Systems is looking for a hands on QA/QC Specialist who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and making sure quality is built into every part we manufacture.
This is not a role where you simply inspect finished products and complete paperwork. You will have the opportunity to help shape how quality is managed across two manufacturing plants, work directly with production and engineering leaders, identify problems before they become costly, and help build a stronger quality culture across the company.
If you are detail focused, comfortable on the shop floor, and enjoy taking ownership of your work, this could be a great next step.
What You Will DoYou will serve as a key quality resource for our Adel, Georgia and Tampa, Florida operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and improve in process and final inspection procedures across both manufacturing facilities.
- Inspect plate and I beam fabrication, built up tapered rafters, purlin production, roll formed panels, and other steel building components.
- Verify dimensional tolerances, weld quality, coatings, finishes, shop drawings, specifications, and applicable AISC and AWS requirements.
- Identify quality issues before products move to the next stage of production or reach the customer.
- Own the Nonconformance Report process from identification through final resolution.
- Document defects, isolate suspect material, investigate root causes, and work with production, engineering, and plant leadership to prevent repeat issues.
- Lead and track Corrective and Preventive Actions through completion.
- Help build and manage our vendor quality program.
- Review incoming materials, mill certifications, specifications, and other supplier documentation.
- Issue and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests when material does not meet expectations.
- Help develop supplier scorecards that measure quality, delivery, and overall performance.
- Track and report key quality measures including scrap, rework costs, first pass yield, customer complaints, defect trends, supplier performance, and inspection completion.
- Prepare clear quality charts, reports, and data for leadership.
- Help prepare materials for the company's monthly Management Review using an ISO 9001 style approach.
- Present quality trends, corrective actions, audit findings, root cause investigations, and open action items.
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System, including inspection plans, work instructions, checkpoints, calibration records, and quality documentation.
- Train supervisors and production employees on quality standards, self inspection, defect prevention, and proper documentation.
- Help create a culture where quality belongs to everyone, not just the person performing the final inspection.
We are looking for someone who can work with limited supervision and take ownership of the quality function.
The right candidate will be:
- Self motivated and comfortable working as an individual contributor.
- Highly organized and able to manage several priorities at once.
- Comfortable working directly on a manufacturing floor.
- Strong at identifying problems and following them through to resolution.
- Able to communicate clearly with production employees, supervisors, engineers, vendors, and company leadership.
- Detail focused without losing sight of production goals and customer expectations.
- Comfortable reviewing drawings, specifications, measurements, inspection results, and manufacturing documentation.
- Willing and able to travel regularly between Adel, Georgia and Tampa, Florida.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Quality assurance or quality control in a manufacturing environment
- Structural steel or metal building manufacturing
- Welding inspection or welded fabrication
- AISC or AWS quality standards
- ISO 9001 or a similar Quality Management System
- Root cause analysis and corrective action
- Blueprint and shop drawing interpretation
- Measurement and inspection tools
- Manufacturing quality reporting and data analysis
Net Suite experience is a plus, but it is not required.
