Heavy Industrial Taylor Forklift Operator

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

Under ongoing supervision, loads and unloads pipe, raw materials, coils, and other materials required by the facility.

• Loads materials and equipment safely and efficiently on vehicles.
• Unloads materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Counts and marks all materials.
• Operates forklift in a safe manner.
• Participates in all inventories.
• Performs other duties as needed by the Mill Supervisor.
• Conducts STOP audits.
• Ensures SOX and Project Stock procedures are performed correctly.
• Follows ISO procedures
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Climbing:
  Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. (This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.)
• Reaching:
  Grabbing things from a distance above or from the side.
• Standing:
  Remaining upright in a stationary position, particularly for sustained periods.
• Pulling:
  Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Fingering:
  Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling to operate control on the forklift.
• Talking:
  Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly,

  Expressing or exchanging ideas and information accurately in written or diagram form.
• Hearing:
  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fire discriminations in sounds.
• Repetitive motions:
  Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands, and/or fingers such as operate controls on the forklift.

• Stooping:
