Scientist​/Engineer: Distributed Systems State Estimation

Overview

The Army Research Laboratory’s Electronics for Sense and Control (ESC) seeks to enable revolutionary advances in navigation and localization, small scale autonomous systems, and human physiological state monitoring. The role involves contributing across these research spaces, developing distributed state estimation methodologies, control integration, and hardware engineering to create a framework for information acquisition and fusion in uncertain environments.

DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory

• Lead independent research efforts on distributed state estimation and hardware validation.
• Publish first‑author peer‑reviewed papers and contribute to the team’s technical literature.
• Develop and validate theories in simulation and hardware, using Linux, ROS, MATLAB, and C/C++.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate controls and hardware solutions.

• Recent graduate or holder of a Ph.D. in control systems, electrical/machine/mechanical engineering, computer science, material science, mathematics, physics or a related discipline.
• Experience in distributed state estimation, control theory, and experimental validation.
• Proficiency with Linux, ROS, MATLAB, C/C++ and ability to deploy research on real hardware.
• Strong publication record and ability to drive research from concept to experiment.
