Position Title:
Accessibility Testing Expert
Location:
University of Maryland Global Campus, 3501 University Blvd. East, Adelphi, MD 20783
Period of Performance: 1 year
Hours:
40 hours per week (no overtime).
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility testing of websites, applications, and digital content against WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2 standards.
- Utilize a range of automated tools, screen readers, and manual testing methods to identify and document accessibility barriers.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, designers, and product teams to guide remediation efforts and ensure accessibility best practices.
- Develop, maintain, and execute detailed accessibility test plans, cases, and audit reports.
- Validate the remediation of accessibility issues across iterative development cycles.
- Stay current with evolving accessibility regulations, standards, and technologies.
- Participate proactively in design and development reviews to embed accessibility early in the product lifecycle.
- Support organizational accessibility training and awareness programs.
- Strong mastery of digital accessibility standards including WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ADA compliance.
- Extensive experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe, JAWS, NVDA, Voice Over, and Accessibility Checker.
- Understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, ARIA roles, and JavaScript as related to accessibility.
- Expertise in both automated scans and manual testing techniques, including screen reader and keyboard navigation assessments.
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of professional experience performing accessibility testing and audits in web and mobile environments.
