System Administrator ut the role As a System Administrator at Utrs, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems, while also implementing best practices in security and efficiency. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to our users.

You will collaborate with various teams to optimize our technology resources and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

What you'll do
  • Manage and monitor the performance of servers, networks, and other critical systems to ensure optimal functionality and uptime.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access to systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner, minimizing downtime for users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy new technologies that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular system audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users, helping them navigate software and hardware challenges.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring business continuity in the event of system failures.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Assist in the management of vendor relationships, ensuring that services and products meet our operational needs.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees by setting up accounts, configuring devices, and providing initial training.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance system performance and security.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in system administration or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing IT infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS, as well as experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Power Shell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are highly desirable.
Nice to have
  • Experience with database management systems and data backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previous experience in a government or defense contracting environment is a plus.
