Position: Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Adrian, Michigan

Offering a part-time schedule of two days per week, this role provides flexibility and the option to expand hours if needed.

Qualifications

and Experience Sought:
  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Professional experience within school settings supporting K-12 students preferred
  • Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, low vision devices, and adaptive strategies
  • Comfortable collaborating with special education teams, teachers, and families
  • Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
  • Commitment to fostering independence and promoting accessible learning
Role Responsibilities:
  • Conduct evaluations and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct and consultative services to students, ensuring access to curriculum and promoting academic achievement
  • Instruct students in the use of braille and a variety of assistive technologies
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to modify materials and environments for optimal accessibility
  • Work closely with families and staff, delivering guidance and training around accommodations and adaptive strategies
  • Regularly monitor student progress and document outcomes as required
