SUMMARYThe Middle School Assistant Principal/Athletics is responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the operation of the middle school, including overall direction, coordination and evaluation. The Middle School Assistant Principal assists in the supervision of all staff assigned to the middle school, the instructional program, professional development of staff and the welfare of students and staff, as well as day-to-day athletic operations.
REPORTINGRELATIONSHIPS
The Middle School Assistant Principal reports to the Principal and may receive direction from the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, the Athletic Director, and/or the Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises employees assigned to the middle school. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the middle school. Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the collective bargaining agreements and the district's policies and procedures.

REQUIREDEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Ability to read and analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
