Career Technical Education Program
The LISD TECH Center is home to over 26 Career Technical Education programs available to high school students in Lenawee County. Program instructors come with years of experience in their specific industry and are able to share their passions with students. TECH Center programs offer industry-recognized credentials, college credits, and technical skills needed to find success after high school.
This program is designed for students to develop skills and explore opportunities within the fields of natural resources and environmental science. The class will perform environmental surveys and experiment with solutions to agricultural and environmental problems. Students will learn identification of plants and wildlife, high-tech hands-on monitoring skills, expertise in habitat management, and how to sustainably use products and energy. Student leadership is developed through teamwork and participation in FFA activities, including awards and competitions.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and Michigan Vocational Authorization OR eligible for Annual Career Authorization
Preferred:
• Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the high school level
• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain partnerships with industry and post secondary institutions
• Knowledge of current educational research and best practice, particularly in the areas of multiple intelligence, brain based learning and emotional intelligence
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for Secondary Level with applicable Vocational Authorization in occupational area OR eligible for Annual Career Authorization for up to 10 years
